My Community Voice - Fraud Alert

Good Morning,

We are currently seeing a significant uptake in fraud calls, even just over the past few days, particularly ones whereby the scammers are pretending to be Police officers.

Please take this as a reminder to be vigilant and never give out personal information over the phone. Police will never ask for personal information over the phone or ever ask for you to hand over a bank card - if police have concerns you would be visited in person, most likely by a uniformed officer. If you ever feel unsure please ask to see the officers warrant card and ID, a true Police Officer will always be happy to show you. Also consider hanging up the phone and using a different phoneline/number to confirm the persons identity as unfortunately some scammers have the ability to keep the phone line open so though you may think you are speaking to someone legitimate that you believe you have called this is not always the case.

If you ever have such contact please don't hesitate to contact Police for advice prior to giving any money or personal items (bank cards and such)
