Sevenoaks District Council will be closing the online survey at midnight on the 17th September.

The new Local Plan will guide what can be built, and where, in what is the current Sevenoaks District between 2027 and 2042. It includes sites put forward by landowners and developers to meet the Government’s new housing target of 17,460 houses that must be built over the lifetime of the Plan.

Horton Kirby and South Darenth Parish Council submits this representation in response to the Sevenoaks District Local Plan 2042 Regulation 19 Publication. The Parish Council recognises that Sevenoaks District must accommodate a substantial increase in housing provision arising from national planning policy. The Parish Council does not object to the principle of meeting the District's objectively assessed housing requirement. Our objection is to the scale, distribution and deliverability of the housing proposed within the civil parish of Horton Kirby and South Darenth. The Regulation 19 Plan proposes 482 residential units across ten sites within the Parish. The sites comprise previously developed and partially previously developed land, together with six greenfield Grey Belt allocations. The Parish Council considers that the resulting concentration of development represents a very substantial intervention in two small settlements.
